Finngo Bookkeeping & Tax ("Finngo", "we", "us") provides bookkeeping and tax services to clients across Canada (excluding Quebec). This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is written to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply, British Columbia's and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Acts.
Information you share with us as a client of our bookkeeping or tax services is governed by your engagement agreement in addition to this policy.
When you submit our contact form we collect your name, email address, company name (optional), and message. Submissions are screened by an anti-spam service and delivered to our team by email. We use them solely to respond to your inquiry.
When you request our tax filing checklist or join our newsletter, your email address, name, and selected interests are stored with our email marketing provider and used to send you the requested material and occasional updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
We use third-party analytics services to understand how visitors use our site. These services use cookies and collect information such as pages viewed, links clicked, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and anonymized session recordings and heatmaps of page interactions. We use this information in aggregate to improve the site. You can limit this collection by disabling cookies in your browser.
Consultation bookings and our client portal are provided by third-party services; information you enter there is also governed by those services' own privacy policies.
By initiating SMS contact you agree to Finngo responding and communicating with you over SMS. Message and data rates may apply. By submitting your phone number, you consent to receive text messages from us; you can opt out at any time by texting "STOP." No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Within Finngo, access is limited to team members who need it to serve you. We use trusted third-party service providers for website hosting, email, anti-spam screening, analytics, email marketing, scheduling, and our client portal; they process personal information only to provide those services. Beyond that, we do not sell or share your personal information, except: if the law requires it; for a legal proceeding; to establish or protect our legal rights; or to a buyer or prospective buyer in the event of a sale of the business. Some of our service providers store data outside Canada (typically in the United States), where it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
Website inquiries and marketing data are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. Client engagement records are retained as required by law — for example, the Canada Revenue Agency generally requires books and records to be kept for six years.
We use reputable providers, encryption in transit, and access controls, and we take all reasonable precautions to keep your information secure. No internet transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee security beyond what is reasonably practical.
Our site and services are directed to businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors; if we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly, and a parent or guardian may contact our privacy officer.
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, how it is used, and to whom it has been disclosed; request corrections; withdraw consent; or ask us to delete information we are not legally required to keep. Contact our privacy officer and we will respond promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy commissioner of British Columbia or Alberta.
We may update this policy to stay compliant with the law or to reflect changes in our practices. The "Last Updated" date above will change when we do, and material changes may also be announced by email.
